The pictures you are viewing are of the Maori town of Rotorua. We enjoyed a variety of activities. The Hell's Gate thermal hot springs were quite interesting. Wouldn't want to work there! George Bernard Shaw named them...
The Agrodome was also very enjoyable since I love animals. There were mostly Koreans there and the emcee made it interactive...needless to say, that in itself was fun! So many types of sheep, lambs, and working dogs. Got a sample of sheared wool for a souvenir.
(As you view the photos, the bannisters and the ram got reversed...no rams at the museum!)
The highlight of this stay was the Matai Hangi Dinneer and Concert. All was wonderful, and the Maori men were exhausted from performing their vocal and facial rituals--bulging eyes, grunts, extended tongues, dances with weapons, etc.
The next morning we changed to anoth campsite which was more in the city. Good thing, too, because it was a very modern site (bathroom photos to come.) My new standard is piped in music in the showers!
On Wednesday we went to the Rotorua Museum which was amazing. Our docent was quite knowledgeable. This place was fashioned after the baths in Bath, England. The healing thmal waters were thought to cure skin ailments, arthritis, rheumatism, and obesity. Upon it's demise afte50 years it was turned into a night club...now a gem of a landmark.
Now, we are here in Auckland having arrived about an hour ago. Glad you are following me on this trip...I love the company.
